This is how our belgium colleagues fly at the winch.
For those who live near mountains, all weird. You are pulled up by a cable, and once high, you release the cable and have your flight.
If you follow SIV with Entrenuvols in the Pyrenees, which I can fully recommend, you are pulled up 800 m above a lake behind a boat. A weird sensation, for pilots who never flew on a winch before.
