A classic day of flying. All needed a bit of time off. All needed to have a relaxed day at the beach, flying above the sea. Just as if it was summer. A dodle.

Reconco - Onil
A good days flying over Onil today. Thanks Raul and Juan Pedro for letting me call you over and over again, every other day and asking how winds are in your valley, thanks a million.
Resulting in some nice flying for my visiting pilots, english, norwegians.
Look at the foto below. This technique cannot convince me at all having a good take off. It is still taught at some school in some countries, but to me this is way out of time. See the result, maybe it was the big rock the pilot fell over, but I think it is merely not having controls if something goes wrong.
Peña Rubia
A brilliant day at Peña Rubia for those who just got launched in the small window we had yesterday.
Northwesterly site, superb thermallingsite, my favourite.
Simon and Toni, both rocketed up and left for Biar. A couple of local pilots made their sunday-afternoon XC. And this is only february. Not bad at all.

And once again
Once again a terrific days flying. More pilots this time as saturday. But no stress, there was enough space for everyone. Some tandems had to be done, pleasing passengers who didn't have a clue how it felt like feeling free carving the sky. Bit lyric I know.

Cross wind
Cross wind makes it sometimes more challenging. At one of my favourite site Onil, Reconco I prefer to fly with crosswind. No need to fly close to the hill, just look for windchannels/bowls that face into wind. I more than once experience the thermals to be stronger than when wind straight on the hill. Some lee makes it all more sportive and more challenging. Today was a day like that.

Gorgeous winter days
Foto taken in Columbia. Sascha, thanks sending this to us.
Today we flew at Palomaret with our german visiting pilots. No local pilots around, all foreign. Understandable as it was beer-cold in the air.

Back from Morocco flying Atlas and Ocean
We had a fantastic, awesome week at the Moroccon sites. Foto's can tell just little about how the week was. I am convinced all who joined will agree about the trip. Flying, culture, food, so many impressions in a week, made us dizzy.
At Aguergour we must have flewn near record heights, at the Atlantic Ocean then is was more relaxed and chilled and nice temperatures in the upper twenties.
All of you who are interested in joining us next year, should let us know. As I will invite you first on the list for next edition, that'll be february 2013.
More foto's on facebook, my account on FB is open for all who wants to look at the foto's, you can find it under DOYOUWANNA , of course....
Have a great day you all.

Santa Pola
One of those days that all feels fine. The kick from flying there. The bliss soaring above beautiful landscape. That was the day.
And just before heading to Morocco tomorrow early morning. We will fly the Atlas mountains and maybe later the Atlantic Ocean.
Will not be able to let you know how things go out there probably, catch you all later. Un abrazo fuerte.

Peña Rubia - friooooooooooooo
Marcel is living here and you could tell. He is current. He flies confident, take off lots more controlled. He flew back and forth from Peña Rubia to Biar.
Stevie just came out to Spain yesterday. He is lesser current, such a good pilot as he is, had a three month break because living in a wet, grey and windy part of the world, Wales.
But, in a couple of days we will be in Morocco. For sure Stevie will be Sat-ing, and Helicoptering above the desert near Aguergour.
Not so warm today, especially not on this north facing hill.

Cabo de Santa pola
Went hiking with the boys. A big tour around the 'lake' of Elche. Together with local pilot/guide Antolino. Big fun.
Later in the day it was nicely flyable at the coast. Quite a few pilots in the air, while we were chilling and hesitating if we wanted to fly in this cold air or not. Few beers later, my guests decided not to. Oh well, I can only be there and advise them. As long as everybody has a great time.
Ducks start to 'kwak-kwak' again, so temperatures are rising. Welcome springtime !

Guadalest - western site
No flying today, old foto I am using. Foto of Guadalest flying over the lake in the morning, paella for lunch in the village listening to flamenco music. Evening soaring on our way back in Calpe or Benidorm.

Blauvent dot com
No flying. Warm again, but windy.
So off to get a sweet present for the girl. This time better not get a vario or GPS for her .... . So checking out www.blauvent.com
You should do the same thing. Cool things recycled from paragliders. Lots of girly things to make her happy, I assure.

Ait Ourir, Marrakech
Ait Ourir near Marrakech, 5 km ridge soaring. Next week we're there.
We'll be watching out for the palmtree. Not worth watching the whole movie, just scroll to the end. Last 40 sec or something. Unbelievable no.

Cabo de Santa Pola
We had a big hike in the mountains looking for the pantano's. Here and there, almond trees in blossom, the start of our spring season.
Although today we shouldn't brag about the weather, winds were strong till late afternoon, and temperatures were not that comfortable.
But in the end, a long and good flight at the cliffs, made it all worth getting out of our lazy warm beds.
Especially for Emilio Milander from Norway, who loves this little site, soaring along the coast. Tomorrow he flies back to warm and cozy Norway ....
