Nice one today.
Left early to fly El cid, a site nobody ever goes to. Although it has its altitude of 1100 m and a height difference of 650 meter, but the road up is nasty, maybe that puts pilots off the have some morning flying up there.
Later around 11 am, we arrived at Palomaret where the dutch pilots with their Swing gliders, flew a couple of hours. Untill it got nasty, gust of over 40 km per hour at take off, and charged sky. But after all a very flyable day.

Unbelievable...

El Cid is like flying in the Grand Canyon... You feel like you're part of a Western movie there... Why would anyone NOT want to go flying there Nick?

Hi dear Joel,
locals do not like to go there, because the road up is nasty. But that's not the only reason. They are fed up with their own 'western' looking like part of the country, for them all their life they haven't seen anything else but dry terrain, dry riverbeds, canyons. For us though it is like flying over the Grand Canyon, it is amazing. So I love taking my guests to those sites, like El cid, Carche.
First time I ever flew in Carche, same terrain as El cid, I loved it. On cloudbase you could see way down below the old veins in the dry terrain, where once there must have been more water, now only darker patches, imaginable rivers. I told my local buddies I was amazed by this. They looked at me as if I'd lost it, it is dead Nick, nothing lives here any more, there is only rock and dust.
Grass is always greener at the other side. Next time you're down here, I take you and your friends to El Cid, remind me.
